When you choose to send the birthday cards which are intended for children and display the age of the child as part of the card, you will be asked (on the Send Card page) what age you want displayed on the card.

For the Pelmanism card, the age can be no higher than 12. This is because the card will automatically show the correct number of candles on the cake, and will also show "10 Today" (or whichever age you enter), and for technical reasons there is a limit on the number of different ages which can be offered. Besides, it's hard to fit more than 12 candles on the cake!

There is an alternative Pelmanism card for adults, but you may not consider it suitable for children of 11 or 12 because it features a bottle of champagne. That, of course, is a matter of individual choice.
