A common technique for spammers is to send mail pretending to be from a genuine address. This technique is called "spoofing". So for example, if someeone wanted to get spam through to john@mycompany.com, they might send it with a "from" address of jane@mycompany.com. To combat this, many company mailservers are set up in such a way that any mail with a from address at their own domain, but originating from a server outside that domain, is rejected. So for example, the mycompany.com server could be set up to reject mail from anyone @mycompany.com, unless the mail originates from the mycompany.com server. When you send an e-card, the mail originates from the e-cards company's mailserver - i.e. in our case the jacquielawson.com server. So, on arrival at the mycompany.com server, it would be deleted. Our computer system detects when a card is picked up by the recipient, and if it is not picked up within 2 days of it being sent, then a card reminder email is sent. But when we send a card reminder, we do not use the member's address as the "from" address: they are sent with a "from" address of "cards@jacquielawson.com" - partially in order to bypass the problem described above. That is why cards sent to addresses at your own workplace may appear to be two days late. In fact we're sending them on time, but the first notification is being deleted by your server and the reminder is getting through. So, how to fix the problem? One solution would be to set up a free email account such as Hotmail or Yahoo, and use that for your jacquielawson.com membership. But probably the easiest is this. When you want to send a card to anyone with an address @ your own workplace domain, enter your own email address as the recipient's address instead. Our computer is configured in such a way that if a member sends themselves a card, the "from" address is always changed to "cards@jacquielawson.com" - for the original card, not just the reminder. So cards sent to yourself will bypass the filter on your company mailserver. Then, when you receive the card on your computer, simply click the Forward button and forward it to the correct recipient. That way, the mail will be sent from your computer, via your company server, and will therefore not be rejected.
