The Chudleigh icon on my desktop has disappeared!

This page applies only to users of Microsoft's Internet Explorer.

If you saved a shortcut to jacquielawson.com on your desktop (as per the instructions you see when you log on) you may find that after a while the Chudleigh icon disappears and is replaced by the boring old Internet Explorer blue "e" icon. This is a known problem in the Microsoft software.

You may find that deleting the shortcut and recreating it fixes the problem. To recreate the shortcut simply click File (in the Internet Explorer menu at the top) then Send, then Shortcut to Desktop. AOL users - just right-click and take Create Shortcut.

If that doesn't fix it, or if you keep getting the problem, then there's a permanent solution, as follows:

  • Right-click on the Chudleigh image above and take Save Picture As, then save the image somewhere, being sure to specify the .ico suffix - for example - c: emp\chudleigh.ico. Make sure you remember exactly where you saved the file!

  • Right-click on the desktop shortcut to jacquielawson.com (the one with the Microsoft "e" logo) and take Properties. Then click the Change Icon button and enter the full path to the image you saved in the previous step, or use the Browse button to find it. When you have found the correct file, click OK.
