How to clear Autofill/Autocomplete data

Most browsers have a facility to fill in forms for you automatically. Depending on the browser, this facility is called "AutoFill" or "AutoComplete" or something similar. If you have this feature switched on, then the first time you enter (for example) your email address on a form, the browser will remember it and then next time you're prompted for an email address, it will fill it in for you.

This is very helpful, but it can easily go awry. If you inadvertently mis-spell your email address, for example, you might find the wrong address being entered for you forever thereafter! Or if you mis-type your password for a website, then when you try to log in again your log-in will be refused \u2013 and you won't be able to see why, because the password field is full of little blobs instead of letters and numbers!

So sometimes it's a good idea either to switch off the AutoFill feature, or to clear out all the data it has "remembered" so that you can start again with the correct information.

There are so many browsers available these days (especially if you include phones and tablets) that it's impossible for us to give detailed instructions for every one. But you'll find instructions for some common browsers on these links:

If your browser isn't in the list above, try searching the internet for "how to clear autocomplete" followed by your browser name and version, and you should quickly find instructions.
